I have mentioned various anniversaries I am celebrating on this trip: 1972 I came to Santiago de Compostela for the first time to study with Andres Segovia - alas, he was ill and did not come; 1977 Nancy was there and called from the street in tears, missing me - we decided to get married!; 1982 Trio LiveOak gave a concert in the Hostal de los Reyes Catolicos as part of the famed Música en Compostela summer festival.

As I explore my own connections to family and significant persons of my life, I must consider John Fleagle, a master musician who graced our musical lives from 1976 - 1982. This is a track from the album Star Shining on the Mountain that we recorded in 1979, Una Sañosa Porfia by Juan del Encina (John of the Liveoak); performers are John Fleagle, Frank Wallace and Nancy Knowles - yes all that complex joy you hear is just the three of us playing and singing at the same time, no overdubbing! John was a member of LiveOak from 1976 to 1983 and recorded three albums with us - we all studied with Marleen Montgomery. The album was on Mnemosyne, a subsidiary of Titanic, and was recorded by Ralph Dopmeyer in the Groton School Chapel, Groton MA.
