Nancy Knowles will be reading her dramatic memoir The Girl in the Moon this Sunday, August 2 at 2:00pm in the Congregational Church in the scenic village of Hillsborough Center NH. Admission is free: donations appreciated for upkeep of this historic, acoustically delightful church. I wrote 16 songs for this production, played on my ten-string guitar. Info: http://summersundays.tumblr.com; directions.
The Girl in the Moon is an intimate glimpse into the inner lives of two artists, Knowles, and her mother Phoebe, who has painted her way through multiple tragedies with spirit and humor well into her nineties. Knowles has been writing this transformative work about the healing power of art over the last five years, drawing from their whimsical and intimate letters, journals, and conversations on space and grace, loss, longing, love and aging. The backbone of the piece, the second in a trilogy of dramatic memoirs, is Knowles’ own poetry. Sunday’s performance will be a reading (and singing) of this work, which in its staged version will include also movement and live painting.

Very happy we had more than 60 people at last SummerSunday concert for Jose Lezcano with protege Colin Isotti. Back Bay Trio next week.
Here’s what Trevor LaBarge had to say:
I just wanted to drop a note to say thanks for putting together today’s concert, and the entire summersundays concert series. We had a great time today, and all of my friends really enjoyed the concert. Despite being in Keene for many years now, this was actually my first opportunity to hear Jose Lezcano perform, and we were all very impressed with his playing. I was also thrilled to see so many people in attendance … well done!
Looking forward to catching more of the series …
